Girl Swallows Nightingale's debut album, Shapeshifter, breathes life into a world of ghostly tales and memory fireflies. Imbued with gauzy soundscapes, technical arrangements, and a rich narrative nestled in the realm of fantasy and science fiction, each track conjures a cinematic experience. In 2020, Shapeshifter was released in conjunction with a set of editorial photos, each work a window into the album's universe and the mythic characters who roam there.

Girl Swallows Nightingale is the mythic art pop universe created by multidisciplinary artist and producer Marica Petrey from Oakland, CA. Her live performance delivers a big cinematic sound, otherworldly vocals, and lyrically explores the realms of science fiction, fantasy, and folklore. GSN is nearing completion of her second LP and her newest single 炎 “Honō” is featured as the credits song in the upcoming movie release, "Owl," (2025). GSN has headlined a number of shows up and down the West Coast, and recently debuted her solo set in Tokyo, Japan.
